Steak House San Borondón stands on Calle L.T.U. in Costa Calma. It keeps no website, so what it serves beyond the steak in its name is not described here. The name is worth knowing, because it is not a family name. San Borondón is the phantom eighth island of the Canaries — a landmass that generations of islanders reported seeing on the western horizon, that appeared on Spanish charts for three centuries, and that several expeditions sailed out to find and never did. It is now understood to have been a mirage. Naming a restaurant after it is a local joke of a particular kind. The hours differ at the weekend, which is the practical thing to note. L'AperiPizza is an Italian pizzeria in the Centro Comercial Plaza on Calle Punta Pesebre in Costa Calma, in the municipality of Pájara on Fuerteventura. Its own line for what it does is the best summary anyone could write: quality Italian pizza, because life is too short to eat a bad one. The numbers behind that are unusually good. Ninety-eight per cent of two hundred and forty-seven people recommend it, and the price band is the lowest of the three the island's restaurants are sorted into — a combination that is rare anywhere and rarer on a resort coast. There is seating outdoors and pizza can be collected at the kerb. The hours want reading before you set out. It is closed on Monday and on Tuesday, both. From Wednesday to Sunday it opens at one in the afternoon and runs to half past ten at night without a break. Two closing days in a row is unusual here and catches people out at the start of a week's holiday. Greek Village has been cooking Greek food in the Santa Clara area of Playa del Inglés for more than twenty years. It grew out of a Greek taverna in San Agustín and brought the same recipes a few kilometers along the coast.
