The Bunch of Grapes is an inn on Ioanni Erotokritou in the old village of Pissouri, up on the Cape Aspro ridge about three kilometres inland from the bay. Its website has been taken down — the page that remains says it will come back — so what follows is what can be checked, and nothing about the kitchen, which we have no source for. The opening pattern is the informative part. It is closed on Monday. From Tuesday to Saturday it opens only in the evening, from half past five to ten. And on Sunday it opens only at midday, from twelve to half past three, and not at all in the evening. A Sunday-lunch-only house that shuts on Monday is a particular institution, and in a Cypriot hill village with a long-settled British population it is a recognisable one. The practical consequence: if you want to eat here on a Sunday evening or a Monday, you cannot, and a Sunday table is the one worth booking ahead. Kastro is on Ampelonon, the vineyard road that runs down from Pissouri village to the bay. The house keeps no website of its own beyond a Facebook page, so nothing is written here about the kitchen. What the hours show is a restaurant run the traditional way, in two sittings rather than straight through: midday to half past three, then a break, then six to nine in the evening. Pissouri Bay Cafe sits at number 57 D on Ampelonon, the road that runs down through the vineyards from the village to the bay. It keeps a Facebook page and no website, so nothing here describes what comes out of the kitchen. Panorama Lounge stands on Makedonias in Pissouri. It keeps a Facebook page rather than a website, so nothing is written here about what it serves — but its name is a claim about the view, and in this village that claim is easy to test. Pissouri sits on the ridge of Cape Aspro, the white cape, and the land drops away from the village to a bay several hundred feet below. The Vineleaf Tavern stands on Ampelonon in Pissouri. The street name is worth translating: ampelonon is Greek for of the vineyards, and it is the road that runs down from the village towards Pissouri Bay through the vines.
