The Brasserie du Sillon stands right on the seafront promenade, ten minutes on foot from the ramparts, with the beach and the tide in front of the windows. It is a seafood house first: oysters and whelks from the bay, a Royal Sillon platter stacked with crab, langoustines and prawns, grilled fish of the day and moules-frites. The menu changes every six to eight weeks with the season, and there is meat for those who did not come for the sea. Between lunch and dinner the room becomes a tea room, which makes it a good stop after a long walk along the Sillon. The dining room is level and accessible, and the terrace faces the water.

Buffet Las Camelias on Avenida de Tirajana has been feeding Playa del Inglés for more than fifty years, and it does so on a grand scale: an all-you-can-eat buffet of over 300 Canarian, Spanish and international dishes. Much of it is cooked in front of you. Castore & Polluce stands on Piazza Tache, the square at the heart of Gressoney-La-Trinité, and is open from eight in the morning until late at night. The day starts with espresso and homemade cakes; later the kitchen serves modern dishes made from local produce, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices. There are three places to sit: the terrace on the square, the Castore room - an alpine lounge around the bar - and the quieter Polluce room, where the wine is kept. An AIS-certified sommelier looks after around 250 labels and leads tastings, and in the ski season the day ends with after-ski sets from a DJ.

Ćatovića Mlini is a konoba in Morinj, at the head of the Risan bay in the Boka Kotorska. The name means Ćatović's mills, and it is literal: the restaurant occupies old watermills, on the streams that come down off the Orjen massif and run into the bay a few metres further on. The water is the reason the mills were built here and the reason the place looks the way it does. It calls itself a konoba — the traditional Adriatic eating house rather than a restaurant in the international sense — and the greeting on its own site is direct: with us, you are the star. Tables stand outside among the water and the trees, which is where almost everyone sits. The hours are simple and the same every day of the week: midday to half past ten at night, straight through, with no closing day. Booking is the sensible course in season — this is one of the best-known addresses on the bay and the Boka fills up between June and September. Morinj lies on the E65, the coast road that runs around the bay from Herceg Novi towards Kotor. The Bay of Kotor is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and this stretch, the inner Risan basin, is the quietest part of it. You will find Ćatovića Mlini on the E65 at 85338 Morinj.
