Il Barrante

Alassio · Italian · Pizza · Fish and seafood

Example photo of the cuisine — not photographed at this venue Alper Tunga Danyıldız / Pexels

Via Vittorio Veneto 151, 17021 Alassio

+390182648736

Il Barrante combines a Neapolitan pizzeria with a seafood restaurant on Via Vittorio Veneto, close to Alassio's beach. Its family-oriented approach makes it useful for a table whose guests want different things from the same meal: a familiar pizza, a plate of Ligurian pasta or a more substantial fish course. Lunch, dinner and a separate late-afternoon aperitivo service provide several ways to fit a visit into a day by the sea. The pizza list begins with Margherita, Marinara and anchovy-topped Napoletana, then moves into richer combinations. Parmigiana brings fried aubergine and Parmesan to the tomato-and-mozzarella base; Mortazza combines burrata, smoked provola, mortadella and pistachio. There are also spicy salami, four-cheese and buffalo-mozzarella choices, so both a simple order and a more elaborate topping are possible. The kitchen gives equal attention to coastal dishes. Start with Ligurian octopus salad, mussels or anchovies with panissa, then consider seafood scialatielli, spaghetti with clams or trofie with homemade pesto, potatoes and green beans. Grilled fish, mixed seafood fry and pistachio-crusted tuna sit alongside beef, burgers and Ligurian-style rabbit, while a children's selection keeps simpler appetites in mind. Desserts continue the meeting of local and southern Italian influences, with an Alassio hazelnut-and-coffee speciality, classic tiramisù and Neapolitan babà among the choices. The range makes Il Barrante particularly practical for families and mixed groups. Telephone for a table and mention any dietary needs so the staff can guide you through the menu.

Example photo of the cuisine — not photographed at this venue RDNE Stock project / Pexels

Vico Berno 6, 17021 Alassio

+390182640387

Osteria Mezzaluna has occupied Vico Berno since 1993, in a small lane linking Alassio's shopping streets with the sea. Candlelit interiors and outdoor tables among plants and flowers give it the atmosphere of a Mediterranean neighbourhood osteria. Acoustic live music is part of its evening identity, so dinner here can become an occasion to linger as well as a chance to explore the menu. Sharing is an easy way to begin. Boards combine cured meats and cheeses from southern Italy, while pinzimonio pairs fresh vegetables with savoury dips. Mussels can be ordered with white wine and pepper or with basil pesto, potatoes and green beans. The seafood starters also include marinated anchovies and a combination of smoked fish and tuna. Ligurian pasta has a strong presence: trofie arrive with pesto, potatoes and beans, and ricotta-and-herb pansotti are served with walnut sauce. Seafood scialatielli and fish-filled ravioli offer alternatives, while grilled tuna, swordfish and squid move the meal towards a main course. Vegetarian choices include chickpea panissa, grilled vegetables and cheeses; children have their own smaller selection. Desserts range from fruit tiramisù to homemade cakes and fruit sorbets, with moka-brewed coffee to finish. Check the music programme if you have a particular evening in mind. Online table requests need to be made at least 24 hours ahead and require the restaurant's confirmation; call for larger groups or more immediate plans. The published evening schedule includes a Tuesday rest day.

Passeggiata Dino Grollero 18, 17021 Alassio

+390182660573

Clapsy Alassio stands between the town's narrow shopping streets and the sea on Passeggiata Dino Grollero. Orange accents brighten the outdoor tables, while handmade Vietri tiles carry that colour into the dining room. This was the first restaurant opened by Claudio and Orietta in the Clapsy family, whose story began in 2004. It is a convivial seaside address for pizza, fish and the group's own take on cheese focaccia. The focaccia is an important part of the restaurant's identity. Two thin layers enclose creamy crescenza cheese, with a classic version as well as combinations involving pesto and pine nuts, smoked speck, aubergine or other additions. Claudio learned the method while working in Recco's bakeries and developed the restaurant's own interpretation from that experience. Pizza lovers can choose between the especially thin, crisp style and a separate Neapolitan selection. The thin Margherita pairs tomato, mozzarella and basil; the vegetarian version adds courgettes, aubergine and rocket. Among the Neapolitan choices, Partenopea uses San Marzano tomato and fior di latte, while Campagnola brings grilled vegetables and burrata. There are also richer combinations with sausage, spicy salami and regional cheeses. Seafood and Ligurian country cooking broaden the offer beyond the oven. The restaurant describes its sourcing around the fish markets of Savona and Imperia, regional olive oil and selected Italian produce. It is a useful option when some of the table want pizza and others prefer a restaurant meal. Contact this Alassio branch directly to arrange your table and confirm service times.

Passeggiata Baracca 25, 17021 Alassio

+390182642557

La Prua has welcomed diners to Alassio's seafront since 1978. On Passeggiata Baracca, the restaurant combines three indoor dining rooms with a veranda overlooking the beach. In summer, tables can extend directly onto the sand; in cooler weather, the sheltered spaces keep the sea close to the meal. It is a setting suited to a leisurely lunch, a dinner for two or a celebration arranged with the restaurant. The kitchen draws on Ligurian and Mediterranean cooking while giving individual dishes a contemporary direction. Raw seafood selections follow the day's availability, with prawns, langoustines, oysters and fish prepared to order. Roast octopus comes with anchovy-flavoured crushed potato, tomato and Taggiasca olive, while a courgette flan with Raschera cheese offers a vegetable-based starter. Pasta and rice choices include traditional trofie, seafood spaghetti to share, and Carnaroli rice with trombetta courgette, langoustine and smoked burrata. The day's Ligurian fish can be grilled, baked in salt or prepared in the local style. Other dishes include sesame-crusted tuna, sea bass with basil and grilled Fassona beef with seasonal vegetables, giving companions different ways to build a meal. The wine selection includes regional bottles as well as wines from elsewhere in Italy. Desserts range from an espresso tiramisù to lemon-and-basil ice cream with Ligurian stroscia and strawberry compote. Reserve ahead if you would like a particular seaside setting, and check which outdoor tables and fish specialities are available for your visit.

Carrer Costa i Llobera 26, baixos, 07458 Can Picafort

+34971515223

Petit Figueret is the younger generation of the Figueret family's restaurant story, with a dedicated burger restaurant on Carrer Costa i Llobera in Can Picafort. The family describes an informal approach built around carefully selected meat, patties formed in the restaurant and artisan bread. It offers a different sort of evening meal from the seafood and rice restaurants along this stretch of coast. The burgers have individual combinations that make the menu worth reading closely. Vola brings together brie, cheddar, caramelised onion, bacon and barbecue sauce; Camins uses goat's cheese, rocket and bacon jam. Ai, Yoko adds mushrooms, raclette and truffle mayonnaise, while Foc al cos is the option to consider if you like a chilli-based sauce. Check the current selection when ordering, as featured burgers can change. Chicken and plant-based choices broaden the range. The published menu includes a crispy chicken burger and an Oxigen burger made with a plant-based patty, vegan cheese and sauce. Sides include ordinary or sweet-potato fries, nachos and chicken wings, and there are smaller children's meals. Cheesecakes and a dark-chocolate brownie provide a substantial finish if you still have room. Reserve the Can Picafort location through its official booking page, which currently offers dinner service. The restaurant says its limited space prevents group reservations, so respect the booking limits rather than arriving with an unannounced large party. Takeaway ordering is also available through the website. This is a convenient choice for a casual burger evening while staying around Can Picafort and Playa de Muro.

Ses Casetes des Capellans, 07440 Playa de Muro

Ponderosa Beach serves contemporary Mediterranean food directly on the sand at Ses Casetes des Capellans, on Playa de Muro. The business dates to 1967 and remains connected to the family who established it. Its appeal is the combination of a relaxed beach setting with a menu that gives substantial attention to rice, seafood and Mallorcan ingredients. The current rice selection uses bomba rice from Molino Roca and is designed for at least two people. Options include cuttlefish with red prawns, black rice with squid, a peeled-shellfish señorito rice and a preparation with Mallorcan vegetables. The Barroco rice combines scallops, red prawns, langoustines, cuttlefish and mussels. Ask about the dishes available on your chosen date before deciding how to share the meal. The starters show a broader range of influences. Mediterranean squid comes with orange-and-almond allioli; mussels are cooked with ginger, coconut milk and yellow chilli; croaker ceviche uses avocado and coconut. Grilled bream and John Dory provide alternatives to rice, while the menu also includes beef, slow-cooked pork and vegetable dishes. Allergen symbols and some adapted options are published, though specific requirements should still be discussed with the team. Reserve through the restaurant's own booking system and confirm the season's service dates. Ponderosa is particularly suited to making lunch part of a beach day, with time to enjoy the shoreline before or after eating. The wine and cocktail lists give further choices for those settling in for a leisurely meal by the water.

Casetes des Capellans 174, 07420 Playa de Muro

+34682151259

Can Gavella is a beachfront restaurant in Ses Casetes des Capellans, at the Can Picafort end of Playa de Muro. Tables on the sand and a menu built around rice dishes make it a natural place to plan a long lunch by the bay. The restaurant traces its paella to a family recipe passed between generations. The rice specialities are prepared to order for at least two diners. Choose between mixed paella, seafood paella and seafood fideuà; the mixed version brings together meat and shellfish, while the seafood preparations include cuttlefish, prawns and mussels. Mention your preferred dish when booking so the kitchen can advise on ordering and timing. There is plenty to consider before the rice arrives. The published menu includes grilled scallops, steamed mussels, clams with white wine, fried baby squid and grilled octopus. Salads, grilled fish, pumpkin ravioli and burgers broaden the choice for a table with different tastes. For a local finish, look for gató with almond ice cream or the Cardinal de Lloseta among the desserts available that day. The kitchen schedule changes with the season: spring and autumn focus on lunch, while the main summer months also list an evening service. Book ahead and check the times for your date. Drivers should follow the signed parking arrangements around Ses Casetes des Capellans, where access restrictions apply during part of summer. The restaurant also welcomes dogs on its terrace and asks larger groups to arrange their visit directly.

Ristorante La Vigna

Example photo of the cuisine — not photographed at this venue Nadin Sh / Pexels

Via Lepanto 1, Frazione Solva, 17021 Alassio

+390182644744

Ristorante La Vigna sits above Alassio in the hamlet of Solva, where its terrace looks across the gulf. A grape pergola, flowers and softly coloured interiors give the osteria a different atmosphere from the busy seafront below. The setting encourages a slower meal, with the view forming part of the occasion and the kitchen keeping the ingredients of the surrounding region in focus. Its cooking brings together the western Ligurian coast, Provence and the Langhe. Fresh pasta, bread and pastries are made in house, and the menu changes with the seasons. Seafood has a central role: raw violet prawns and langoustines, local fish, tuna, octopus and gently cooked salt cod appear among the restaurant's specialities. An oyster selection offers another way to begin a meal by the coast. The pasta repertoire is particularly distinctive. Agnolotti al plin are filled with roast rabbit, while seafood tortelli, tagliolini with prawns or lobster, and Carnaroli seafood rice show the maritime side of the kitchen. Meat eaters can look for Ligurian-style rabbit, Fassona beef and slow-cooked veal. Seasonal vegetables accompany the main dishes rather than being treated as an afterthought. The restaurant also gives careful attention to its wine selection, so the meal can be planned around a bottle as well as a dish. Book a table directly and use the Solva address when arranging your journey: this is a hillside destination above the town. Ask about the current seasonal menu and terrace availability when making your reservation.

Figueret Restaurant

Example photo of the cuisine — not photographed at this venue Piotr Arnoldes / Pexels

Carretera Artà–Port d'Alcúdia, km 26.3, 07440 Playa de Muro

+34971893045

Figueret Restaurant brings traditional Mallorcan cooking and a broad Mediterranean menu to the road through Playa de Muro. The name comes from the family's longstanding Mallorcan nickname. Jaume and Maria began the current Figueret story with a small café in Port d'Alcúdia in 2010, later developing the restaurant's focus on lunch and dinner. The menu gives a clear place to island recipes. Cod à la mallorquina is baked with vegetables, potatoes, tomato, garlic, pine nuts and raisins; another cod preparation combines allioli, sobrasada and honey. Vegetable frit mallorquí, stuffed aubergines and stuffed courgettes offer further ways to explore the kitchen's regional side. Grilled fish and meat sit alongside these dishes rather than replacing them. Seafood is another strong thread, from garlic prawns and clams in Albariño to the house mixed seafood platter. Rice dishes and fideuà are generally offered for at least two diners, with seafood, black-ink, mixed-meat-and-seafood and vegetable versions. The ciega preparations have bones and shells removed, a useful distinction to understand when choosing a shared pan. Desserts include Mallorcan gató with almond ice cream and ensaïmada pudding. Parking is available in front of the restaurant, and tables can be reserved through its own website. Discuss your choice of rice, group size and dietary needs when arranging the visit. The combination of recognisable island dishes, seafood and a substantial vegetarian selection makes Figueret useful for a mixed group wanting a full meal in the Playa de Muro area.

Example photo of the cuisine — not photographed at this venue Mayank Malla / Pexels

Avinguda de s'Albufera 16, Ses Fotges, 07440 Playa de Muro

+34971890483

Restaurante Boy has been part of Playa de Muro since 1978, with the Torrens Bauza family behind a restaurant centred on wood-fired grilling. On Avinguda de s'Albufera in Ses Fotges, it offers a broad menu that works for a group whose tastes range from a substantial steak to pizza or a lighter fish dish. The meat selection is the main focus. The restaurant lists Spanish beef alongside Irish and Australian Angus and beef from Nebraska, with large cuts such as T-bone and tomahawk intended for sharing. Dry ageing is part of the house's approach to selected beef. Staff can explain the available cuts and portions, which is useful when choosing between an individual steak and a shared platter. There are several ways to build a different meal. Starters include mussels, battered squid, Padrón peppers, Manchego and Iberian ham. Pizza choices run from a simple cheese-and-tomato Margarita to vegetable and seafood versions; pasta, grilled vegetables and pamboli add more options. The children's menu and play area are practical details for families, while the larger menu means everyone can order at their own pace and according to appetite. Boy also has a wine selection and an adjoining cocktail-bar offering for continuing the evening. Reserve directly, especially if you want a larger table or a particular sharing cut. Opening days and Sunday service should be checked with the restaurant, as seasonal schedules can differ. This is an established local option for a meal built around the grill without requiring every diner to choose meat.

Balcón de María sits on the Avinguda del Rei Jaume I in Santa Ponsa and sells itself as one place with every experience in it. That is a fair description of the range: pinchos and tapas, what it calls crispy pizza, and a cocktail bar, under one roof. The distinction between pinchos and tapas is worth knowing before you order. A pincho is a single mouthful on a piece of bread, held together with a stick and eaten standing, counted at the end by the sticks left on the plate; a tapa is a small dish. Both are Spanish, and few places on a Mallorcan resort strip bother to serve the first properly. The house keeps separate cards for breakfast, for children, for desserts and for cocktails, and delivers through Glovo, Just Eat, Uber Eats and On The Road — four services, which in a resort town means it is used by people staying nearby as much as by people walking past. It opens every day at half past twelve and runs to eleven at night, to midnight on Friday and Saturday. It is part of the same Mallorcan group as Mercader del Mar, a few doors along the same avenue, so the two are an easy pair to alternate between over a week without eating the same thing twice. Santa Ponsa is about twenty minutes west of Palma, and this avenue is where most of its kitchens are — a walk of a few minutes from the beach and from most of the apartments. You will find Balcón de María at Avinguda del Rei Jaume I 97, 07180 Santa Ponsa.

Mestiza sits on the Avinguda del Rei Jaume I in Santa Ponsa and does three things: burgers, prime steak, and thin, crisp American-style pizza. The full name says so outright, which saves anyone the trouble of guessing — this is not a Mallorcan kitchen and does not pretend to be one. The word mestiza means mixed, and the menu lives up to it. Alongside the main card there are separate lists for breakfast and for desserts, and the kitchen opens at eleven in the morning and runs to midnight, every day of the week without a closing day. Food is delivered through Just Eat. The site is kept in five languages — Spanish, English, German, French and Italian — which is an honest picture of who eats on this avenue in August. It belongs to the same Mallorcan group as Mercader del Mar and Balcón de María, a few doors along the same street, so the service and the standard are shared between them even though the kitchens are not. Santa Ponsa is about twenty minutes west of Palma by car, and the avenue runs from the bypass down towards the beach with most of the town's restaurants on it. Number 92 is towards the lower end, so this is a short walk from the sand rather than from the main road — worth knowing if you are coming back off the beach hungry. You will find Mestiza at Avinguda del Rei Jaume I 92, 07180 Santa Ponsa.

Mercader del Mar stands on the Avinguda del Rei Jaume I, the avenue that runs the length of Santa Ponsa on the south-west coast of Mallorca. The kitchen is Mediterranean and its single named speciality is paella — which on this island means the rice is the dish rather than a side, and it is worth ordering as one. Two practical points the house makes about itself. It is open all year, which is not ordinary in a resort town where a good part of the strip shuts from November to March. And the kitchen runs straight through, midday to midnight, every day of the week — so there is no dead afternoon between services, the thing that catches out anyone eating on a northern European clock. There are separate cards for children and for desserts, and the site is kept in Spanish, English and German, which tells you plainly who eats here. The restaurant belongs to a Mallorcan group that also runs Puerto Portals and several houses along this avenue, so the standard is consistent between them and the menus have a family resemblance. Santa Ponsa lies about twenty minutes west of Palma, on a sheltered bay with a sand beach, and the avenue is its main street. You will find Mercader del Mar at Avinguda del Rei Jaume I 103, 07180 Santa Ponsa.

Las Olas is a fish restaurant on the Carrer de Ramon de Montcada, on the Costa de la Calma side of Santa Ponsa. Its own line for what it does is four words long and says everything: from the sea to the plate. The house publishes its menu as a document in four languages — Spanish, English, German and French — which is unusual and useful. It means you can read what is being served before you sit down rather than working it out from a board, and seven pages of it suggests a kitchen with more than a resort card. One thing to plan around: it is closed on Mondays. The rest of the week it opens at half past twelve and runs through to midnight without a break, which covers a late lunch, an early dinner and a late one at the same address. Tables are booked through the restaurant's own link page. Costa de la Calma adjoins Santa Ponsa to the west and is the quieter half of the same stretch of coast — residential rather than resort, a few minutes' walk from the beach and away from the main avenue. The name means calm coast and it is not marketing: the bay here is sheltered from the tramuntana, the north wind that closes the beaches on the other side of the island, which is why this corner of Mallorca fills up first in spring and empties last in autumn. You will find Las Olas at Carrer de Ramon de Montcada 18, 07180 Costa de la Calma.

Adelfas is a restaurant in a villa on a quiet street of Santa Ponsa, run by Jens and Nicole Bräuning, with a large sun terrace under the trees and a pavilion for bigger tables. Everything is made in the house - the couple say they cook and serve with heart rather than follow a production line - and the menu leans to fresh, gourmet plates: a butterfish ceviche with mango foam is the dish people mention, alongside fish, lamb and homemade desserts. It opens in the evening only, from six, and closes on Tuesday and Wednesday; the terrace makes it a good choice for a long summer dinner, and there is parking directly outside. Open all year, which in Santa Ponsa is not a given.

Paco's Restaurant stands on the Carrer de Ramon de Montcada in Costa de la Calma, on the western edge of Santa Ponsa. It is one of the best-reviewed places in this part of the coast, and it sits on the same short street as Las Olas — a residential road a few minutes back from the water rather than a stretch of the resort avenue. The restaurant had a website and the domain no longer resolves, so nothing is written here about the kitchen: we can point at no source for it, and guessing would be worse than saying nothing. The telephone number works and is the way to ask what is on and to book a table. The opening hours are the same every day of the week, half past twelve to half past ten at night, with no closing day and no afternoon break — which in a resort where a good part of the strip shuts between three and seven is the practical thing to know. Costa de la Calma runs west from Santa Ponsa towards Peguera. It is the quieter side: houses and apartments rather than hotels, and a walk of a few minutes to either the beach or the main avenue. You will find Paco's at Carrer de Ramon de Montcada 13, 07183 Costa de la Calma.

La Palta stands in Bilegno, a hamlet so small that the restaurant describes itself as a hidden gem behind uneven walls — set among gentle hills, kitchen gardens and old houses in the province of Piacenza. The building gives nothing away from the road, which is part of how the place presents itself. The cooking is ambitious rather than rustic, and the house says so in its own words: the eyes come before the nose and the palate. Unexpected combinations are the method. Two dishes stand for the range — tortelli con la coda, the tailed parcels that are the signature pasta of Piacenza and are folded here in the traditional way, and black ravioli served in an exotic broth that belongs to no local tradition at all. The kitchen is run by a female chef, and the house describes eating here as travelling between the smells of home and inspirations from far away. Gift vouchers for a lunch or dinner are sold through the restaurant's own site. Service runs Tuesday to Saturday, lunch from half past twelve to half past two and dinner from eight to ten. On Sunday there is lunch only, and Monday it is closed. Booking is advisable: the room is small and the restaurant draws people from well beyond the province. You will find La Palta at Frazione Bilegno 67, 29011 Bilegno, Piacenza.

Antica trattoria Del Tempio stands on Via Creta in Vicobarone, a hamlet of Ziano Piacentino in the Val Tidone. The name is the owners' own and says what kind of house it is: a trattoria, and an old one — the everyday restaurant of an Italian village rather than a destination built for visitors. The opening hours describe how it is used. Lunch is served every day except Wednesday, from midday to half past two. Dinner exists on Friday and Saturday only, from eight to ten. A kitchen arranged that way is cooking for people who eat their main meal in the middle of the day, which in this part of Emilia is still most of them, and it means a visitor planning an evening here on a Tuesday will find it closed. Vicobarone sits in the Colli Piacentini, the wine hills between the Po plain and the Apennine ridge. The province is known for three cured meats with protected status — coppa, pancetta and salame piacentino — and for Gutturnio, the red grown on these slopes. Ziano Piacentino is one of the centres of that production, and Vicobarone is one of its hamlets. We hold no website for this trattoria, so nothing is described here about its cooking. The telephone is the way to ask, and to book. You will find it at Via Creta 6, 29010 Vicobarone, Ziano Piacentino.

Le Proposte is a family restaurant in the hamlet of Corano, in Borgonovo Val Tidone, in the hills of the province of Piacenza. Its beginning is unusual and the family tells it plainly: twenty-five years ago Danila and Luigi, with their daughter Manuela, bought a farmhouse in a panoramic position meaning it to be a second home. Cooking took over. In the year 2000 the house opened as a restaurant, and it has been run by the family ever since. The kitchen is traditional and the work is done on the premises: cured meats are aged in the restaurant's own cellars, the pasta is made in the house, and the ingredients are handled daily rather than bought prepared. In this part of Emilia that is not a marketing line — salumi and hand-made pasta are what the province is known for, and doing both in-house is the difference between a country restaurant and a country restaurant worth driving to. The dining room seats about forty. In summer lunch and dinner are served on the panoramic terrace, which is the reason the farmhouse was bought in the first place. It is closed on Monday and Tuesday. From Wednesday to Saturday it serves lunch from half past twelve to two and dinner from eight to eleven; on Sunday the evening ends an hour earlier. Booking is sensible in a room of forty seats. You will find Le Proposte at Frazione Corano 35, 29011 Borgonovo Val Tidone, Piacenza.

Casa Galli is a farmhouse restaurant on the hillside at Albareto above Ziano, in the Val Tidone, where the family has cooked for guests since 1997 and the view from the terrace is vineyards down to the valley. The dining room is old stone with a fireplace and candles; in summer the tables move out under the porticoes, and there is a play area for children, which makes it an easy Sunday lunch for families. The food is Piacenza cooking without shortcuts: house cured meats, gnocco fritto, tortelli and pisarei made in the kitchen, roasts, and the Gutturnio of the hills to drink. It opens Wednesday to Sunday, lunch and dinner except Sunday evening; there are rooms and apartments for anyone who wants to stay after the wine.

La Colombaia is an agriturismo above Ziano Piacentino, in the westernmost of the Piacenza valleys. The land was in the family for years before Guido turned it into an agriturismo, and the kitchen is described by the house as cucina piacentina doc — the cooking of this province and no other. The estate is arranged for eating outdoors without depending on the weather: three dining rooms stand in the open but under cover, all of them looking out over the valley, with a bar area for drinks and two further rooms inside. That combination is worth knowing in a region where a summer evening can turn without warning. It sits among the hills and is used as a starting point for the country around it — mountain biking, riding and walking all begin at the door, and the valley is crossed by roads that lead through the historical, scenic and gastronomic parts of the province. The Colli Piacentini are wine country: Gutturnio, Ortrugo and Malvasia are grown on these slopes, and Ziano Piacentino is one of the centres of that. Opening is limited and worth planning around. Friday evening only from eight to ten; Saturday lunch from half past twelve and dinner from eight; Sunday the same with lunch running until half past three. Monday to Thursday it is closed. You will find La Colombaia at Località Arcello 1, 29010 Ziano Piacentino.

Locanda San Lupo stands among the hills and vineyards above Ziano Piacentino, and its own line for itself is where taste meets the sunset. That is a fair description of what it sells: the terrace looks out over the vines, and the house treats the evening light as part of the meal rather than as scenery that happens to be there. It is more than a dining room, in its own account — a refuge in the quiet of the hills, where the point is that time slows down. In practice that means it works for two quite different occasions: a family Sunday lunch, and a dinner for two once the lights come on. There is a wine list, which matters here — these slopes are the Colli Piacentini, and Gutturnio, Ortrugo and Malvasia are grown in the fields the terrace looks at. The hours are unusual and worth reading twice: this is an evening restaurant. It serves dinner from eight to eleven every day except Wednesday, when it is closed, and it does not open for lunch at all. Anyone arriving at midday will find the door shut. Ziano Piacentino lies in the Val Tidone, about forty minutes south-west of Piacenza and well inside an hour of Milan, which makes this a plausible evening out from the city as well as a local one. You will find Locanda San Lupo at Strada Comunale Lupo 101, 29010 Ziano Piacentino.

Località Negrese 308, 29010 Ziano Piacentino

Agriturismo Il Negrese is a family-run farm and winery in the hills of Ziano Piacentino. Its restaurant is part of the same property as the guest accommodation, making it the natural first dining address for guests staying at Il Negrese. The dining room was created in the farm's former barn, preserving a connection with the building's working history. The kitchen focuses on the traditions of Piacenza rather than a broad international menu. Handmade pasta, homemade bread and cakes are central to the offer described by the local tourism authorities. The farm's own wines accompany the cooking, so a meal can also introduce visitors to the local wine-growing landscape around Ziano. This is a place to contact in advance. The official tourism listing describes meals as available by reservation on both weekdays and holidays, without promising a fixed daily walk-in schedule. Ask what the kitchen is preparing, whether a set menu applies and how dietary requirements can be accommodated. An overnight stay does not automatically mean that dinner is included in the accommodation price. Use the full Località Negrese 308 address and the agriturismo's published telephone number when arranging your visit. The dining building and guest rooms are adjacent, while visitors staying elsewhere can enquire about a restaurant reservation. Reserved parking is listed by the tourism office. For a group meal or a visit centered on the wines, discuss the arrangements directly before traveling into the hills.

L'Ami Louis is a fish and seafood restaurant on the quay at Centre-Port in Cap d'Agde, at Quai Di Dominico, 11 Rue de la Gabelle. The name goes back to 1931, when Louis, great-grandfather of the current generation, opened a bar-brasserie near Paris. His daughter Janine and her husband Joseph Abadie took over in 1960; Joseph came from Portiragnes near Béziers, and when Cap d'Agde was built as a resort in the 1970s the family moved south and reopened on the Port Brescou quays. Sons Jean-Louis and Jérôme took charge in 1990, and Vincent Abadie, Joseph's eldest grandson, joined in 2003: four generations. The dining room is contemporary, in pastel tones, with a view over the marina. Fish and shellfish come first: Thau lagoon oysters, rock-fish soup with rouille, sea bass in a salt crust sold by weight, sole belle meunière, monkfish bourride, and lobster or langoustines sold by weight in season. Meat eaters get a four-hour braised lamb shank, duck confit or beef filet; the wines are Minervois, La Clape, Faugères. There is a two-course express formula at weekday lunch, three set menus of increasing length, the full carte, and a children's menu up to age eight. Lunch runs from noon to 1:45 pm, dinner from 7 to 9:45 pm. Outside July and August the restaurant is closed Wednesday, Thursday and Tuesday evening; in high season it serves every evening, with an early-diner offer between 7 and 7:30 pm. Book by phone on +33 4 67 26 25 48 or through the form on the website, not by email. Dogs are welcome if mentioned when booking; high chairs are few, so ask. From a rental in the marina it is a short walk; from Agde old town a quarter of an hour by car.

Passion Glacée is an ice-cream parlor at 11 Allée de la Flânerie, the pedestrian street at the heart of Centre-Port in Cap d'Agde, a few steps from the marina. It is a producer, not just a shop: the ice cream is made on the premises in the Italian style from raw ingredients rather than powders or mixes, and even the cones are baked in-house, including a chocolate-dipped version. Alongside the scooped flavors there are sorbets, soft-serve, granitas, milkshakes and smoothies, and for the children crêpes, bubble waffles and churros, also made on site. For the 2025 opening weekend the special was a Ferrero Rocher ice cream churned on the spot. The parlor works a summer rhythm: it opens for the Easter weekend and serves through the season, with the longest lines on July and August evenings when the promenade fills after dinner. There is seating, so it works as a sit-down stop rather than a takeaway window only, and the entrance is step-free. Cards and contactless payment are accepted, Pluxee meal cards too, and there is Wi-Fi. The phone number is +33 4 67 26 32 62; flavors and opening days are posted on the shop's Facebook and Instagram accounts, the quickest way to check a shoulder-season day. For a family in a rental at Cap d'Agde the position is the point: the parlor sits between the marina and the resort beaches, so it fits into an evening walk after the beach or a turn round the port. From Agde old town it is a quarter of an hour by car; the Allée itself is closed to cars, so park in one of the lots around Centre-Port and walk the last stretch.
