Località Bettaforca 6/A, 11020 Gressoney-La-Trinité

+393520972727

Ristoro Colle Betta sits at 2,727 meters on the Bettaforca pass, right where the Sant'Anna-Bettaforca chairlift arrives, in the middle of the Monterosa ski area between the Gressoney valley and the Val d'Ayas. In winter skiers stop on the snow terrace facing the Monte Rosa massif; in summer hikers come up on the trail from Stafal or ride the lifts via Sant'Anna. The hut is large and spread over two floors. The menu mixes Aosta Valley and Piedmontese dishes with pizza, sandwiches and toasts for a quick stop between runs, the cellar holds a good range of wines, and the bar serves beer, coffee and hot chocolate. It is open for as long as the lifts are running.

Località Sitten 16, 11020 Gressoney-La-Trinité

+390125366300

Ristoro Sitten is a mountain refuge at 2,300 metres above Staffal, in the Monterosa Ski area, with Monte Rosa filling the view from the terrace. In winter it is reached on skis or with the Sant'Anna cable car from Staffal; in summer the cable car and a 4x4 shuttle bring walkers up, or it is a hike. Run by the Comola family's company, it works as two places in one. At lunchtime it is a self-service with quick dishes, hot sandwiches and Aosta Valley plates for skiers and hikers; in the evening it becomes a restaurant with regional cooking, and on Saturdays in season a high-altitude dinner with a snowcat ride up after the lifts have closed. There is a wood-fired hot tub outside for those staying the night, and beds for anyone who wants to be first on the slopes.

Obala kralja Tomislava 19b, 21216 Kaštel Novi

+38521231301

Mon–Thu 10:00–23:00; Fri–Sun 10:00–24:00

Konoba Intrada brings seafood, pizza and traditional Dalmatian cooking together on Obala kralja Tomislava in Kaštel Novi. Its name refers to the produce of the surrounding fields, and the kitchen connects Adriatic fish with local wine, olive oil and vegetables from Kaštela family farms. The waterfront setting makes it a natural place to combine a meal with time along the coast. The menu offers several ways into that regional cooking. Begin with octopus salad, Dalmatian prosciutto or local cheese, then choose black risotto, seafood spaghetti or the house pasta with salmon and prawns. Grilled sea bass and sea bream sit alongside squid and shellfish. For two diners who want to share, the Intrada fish platter brings together several fish and seafood preparations on one order. Pizza is also a substantial part of the choice, with small, large and jumbo formats. Toppings range from the straightforward tomato, cheese and oregano combination to anchovies, mixed vegetables and the house salmon-and-prawn version. This breadth is useful when one person wants fish and another prefers pizza or a familiar pasta dish. For a more deliberate group meal, ask in advance about peka: the menu lists veal, lamb, octopus and stuffed squid cooked beneath the covered baking bell, in portions for four. Reservations can be arranged directly by phone. Published opening hours extend later from Friday to Sunday, making it worth confirming your preferred dining time when booking.

Frazione Biosio 1, 23822 Bellano

+390341821362

Crotto di Biosio sits on the hillside above Bellano, where terraces open towards Lake Como and the surrounding mountains. Indoors, rooms with fireplaces give the restaurant a welcoming setting in cooler weather. Behind them is the natural grotto used as a pantry, a reminder of the traditional purpose of a crotto. The establishment grew from a local meeting place and walkers' stop into the family restaurant it is today. The kitchen draws on the nearby valleys, using cured meats, cheeses and seasonal produce alongside fish and meat dishes. A mixed starter features salumi from Marco d'Oggiono with sweet-and-sour vegetables. Homemade grape-and-walnut bread is paired with natural blue cheese and honey from Biosio, while local cheeses can be ordered with preserves or honey. First courses include pumpkin-and-Taleggio crêpes, fresh egg pasta with sausage ragù and layered pasta with salmon trout, courgette and lake-fish roe. Heartier choices bring lamb cutlets with courgette and mint, grilled sausage with polenta, and skewers served with polenta. A cheese-rich polenta preparation and vegetable sides give companions further options without relying on the same meat dishes. House desserts and wines by the glass allow the meal to end simply or continue at a slower pace. The location suits a meal planned around a visit to the hillside, with the outdoor terraces particularly attractive in suitable weather. Contact the restaurant to reserve and check the current menu and opening days, then use the Biosio address when arranging your route up from Bellano.

Šetalište Miljenka i Dobrile 34, 21215 Kaštel Lukšić

Štacija Restaurant is part of Hotel Štacija on the seafront promenade in Kaštel Lukšić. Its terrace places the meal close to the water, while the kitchen builds on Mediterranean ingredients such as olive oil, tomatoes and fish supplied by local fishermen. The restaurant is useful for an evening out along the Kaštela coast, with a seasonal à la carte service and a separate year-round bar offer. The dinner menu moves from sea bass carpaccio and prawn tartare to pasta with smoked mussels, cuttlefish ragù and prawn risotto. A traditional seafood stew comes with squid-ink pasta, while sea bass fillet and Adriatic tuna provide other fish choices. Zucchini carpaccio, pesto pasta with semi-dried tomatoes and a bulgur-and-vegetable bowl give the menu a vegetable-focused side. Meat dishes include dry-aged ribeye, beef Wellington and pork cheeks prepared in the style of pašticada with homemade gnocchi. If you would like a shared peka meal, contact the restaurant ahead: veal and octopus versions require advance ordering and a minimum of four portions. Whole fish from the grill also needs to be pre-ordered. The wine selection offers a way to explore nearby producers, including Kaštela Maraština, Pošip and Crljenak. Plan around the restaurant's distinct service times: à la carte dinner runs from April through October, while breakfast, desserts and sweet or savoury bar food remain available through the year. The booking form and telephone contact allow you to confirm the menu and terrace arrangements before visiting.

Via Vittorio Veneto 29, 23822 Bellano

+390341810307

Cavallo Bianco is a longstanding restaurant and pizzeria on Bellano's lakefront, with an indoor dining room and a terrace directly beside Lake Como. Chef Alberto Riva and Daniela lead a kitchen that combines local lake-and-valley dishes with wood-fired pizza and pinsa. The generous range makes it a useful address for a family meal or for friends returning from a day exploring the eastern shore. Pizza choices run from Margherita and buffalo-mozzarella Bufalina to more distinctive combinations such as pear with Taleggio or apple with Gorgonzola. The house Cavallo Bianco is presented as half pizza and half calzone, with porcini, Parmesan and spicy salami. Vegetarian and anchovy-topped varieties sit alongside the familiar ham, mushroom and four-cheese options. For a meal from the restaurant kitchen, starters include missoltini with polenta, sciatt and smoked trout with orange. Pizzoccheri are available for at least two people, and the pasta selection includes perch-filled ravioli with herbs and pistachio. Grilled trout, sea bass, mixed fried lake fish and meat dishes give the table plenty of alternatives to pizza. Children's chicken with fries is also listed. The dessert menu includes tiramisù, buckwheat cake with blueberries and panna cotta with berry sauce. A lake-facing table is worth requesting when booking, particularly in busy holiday periods. Lunch and dinner are served throughout the year, but the usual Monday closure changes in peak season, so telephone the restaurant to confirm the schedule for your visit.

Via Carlo Alberto 8, 23822 Bellano

+390341810317

La Darsena in Bellano brings the Moschetti family's Valtellina cooking to a dining room overlooking Lake Como. Large windows frame the water, and an open kitchen lets guests see the preparation behind the meal. The restaurant is set in the town's old silk-mill complex on Via Carlo Alberto, making it a natural place to pause for lunch or dinner while exploring Bellano. Handmade pizzoccheri are the kitchen's signature, prepared to a longstanding family recipe. Sciatt, the crisp buckwheat fritters with a Casera cheese centre, and a Valtellina starter with bresaola introduce the mountain side of the menu. Local cured meats and valley cheeses, including Storico Ribelle, continue that connection to the region. The lake is equally present at the table. A selection of lake-fish starters includes small fish prepared in carpione, while rice with perch follows the traditional local approach. Trout with citrus gives another fish option. For a meat course, the restaurant offers beef fillet cooked sous vide and finished with whisky and honey, as well as heartier seasonal preparations. Desserts include buckwheat cake and an apple cake based on a family recipe. The wine list and a selection of Italian craft beers provide several ways to accompany the dishes. Reserve ahead if a table by the windows matters to you, particularly at weekends. Monday is the regular closing day, and same-day reservations are handled by telephone. Groups larger than eight should also call so the restaurant can discuss the most suitable arrangement.

Don Frane Bege 2, 21214 Kaštel Kambelovac

+38521220208

Baletna Škola sits among pine trees a few metres from the sea in Kaštel Kambelovac. The name remembers a distinctive part of the site's history: prima ballerina Ana Roje founded an international ballet school here in 1953. Today the restaurant pairs that coastal setting with a broad menu rooted in Dalmatian and Mediterranean cooking. Seafood choices include grilled fish, squid, prawns and mussels prepared in buzara sauce. Two diners can share a grilled seafood platter with fish, scampi, squid and chard, or choose the fried platter of prawns, squid and small fish. These are helpful options when you want a shared meal with several textures instead of choosing a single fish dish. The grill menu is equally substantial, covering lamb, chicken, steaks, ćevapi and stuffed pljeskavica. There are named meat platters for two, alongside dishes such as chicken in gorgonzola sauce with gnocchi. Pizza provides another route through the menu: simple tomato and cheese, vegetable toppings, prawns and more generous combinations are available, including jumbo sizes. Families have a separate children's selection with smaller ćevapi portions, chicken schnitzel and familiar pasta dishes. For something more traditional, ask what is being prepared for the day's marenda; the menu lists cooked lunch dishes such as beans, stews and pašticada. Peka appears among the special preparations, so discuss availability when reserving. Desserts include rožata, pancakes and cakes, giving a mixed group plenty of choice from the first course to the last.

Ulica biskupa Draga 3, 51280 Rab

+38551725887

Mon–Sun 10:00–00:00

Konoba Riva has welcomed diners in Rab's old town since 1998. Traditional coastal cooking, a terrace and the surrounding stone streets give it a clear island setting. Its fairly broad menu makes it a useful option when a group wants seafood, grilled meat and a few straightforward vegetarian choices at the same table. For fish lovers, the Riva platter combines fish, squid and prawns for two people. Individual dishes range from sea-bass or sea-bream fillets with chard to grilled tuna, mussels buzara-style and squid risotto. Seafood spaghetti is another option, while octopus prepared with tomatoes and spices offers a different texture and sauce. Starters include octopus carpaccio, salted fish, Dalmatian ham and Pag sheep's cheese. The menu also has a dedicated vegetarian section with vegetable risotto, tomato pasta and fried courgettes. Children have smaller chicken, pasta and grilled-meat dishes. Those choosing meat can look towards grilled skewers, steak or a mixed platter. Rab cake, walnut pancakes and ice cream are among the desserts, so there are several ways to finish without ordering the same thing around the table. Reservations are taken by telephone, which is also the route for discussing the restaurant's food delivery to the marina. That service may suit guests spending the evening aboard a boat; confirm the delivery point and timing when ordering. Diners visiting in person should use Ulica biskupa Draga 3. Card payment is accepted, and the published daily hours run from late morning to midnight.

Rab · Mediterranean · Steak and grill · Fish and seafood

Example photo of the cuisine — not photographed at this venue Nadin Sh / Pexels

Srednja ulica 9, 51280 Rab

+38551771145

Labirint brings a family restaurant into one of Rab's old-town corners. The Pičuljan family took over the former inn in 1979 and introduced the Labirint name in 1981. Both the dead-end lane and the layout of the terrace explain the name, giving this address a character quite different from an open waterfront dining room. The kitchen keeps a strong connection to island cooking. Fish from local fishermen sits alongside octopus, anchovies, salted fish, shellfish and crustaceans. A particularly local dish to ask about is rapski gusti ujušak, Rab's thick fish soup. Olive oil, vegetables and herbs accompany the seafood, while the drinks selection includes house wines and bottled wines. Meat has its own place here, including the King Tomislav platter and beef tartare prepared at the table. The two dining spaces also offer different settings: the terrace has stone walls and a well, while the interior recalls an older island tavern with its fireplace and peka. Choose according to the weather and the kind of evening you have in mind. Find Labirint at Srednja ulica 9, within the old town, so a meal can fit around time spent exploring on foot. Telephone +385 51 771 145 to arrange a table or ask what is available that day. Service is split between lunch and dinner, with an afternoon break, making the timing worth checking before a spontaneous visit.

Obala kralja Petra Krešimira IV 6, 51280 Rab

+38551724183

Šanpjer combines a family fish shop and a seafood tavern on Rab's waterfront promenade. The restaurant began welcoming guests in 1997, and the connection between the fish counter and the kitchen remains central to its identity. Wooden tables and benches sit outside beneath an awning and palms, placing the meal alongside the activity of the old-town harbour. Fish and shellfish guide the menu. Grilled sea bass or sea bream, fried or grilled squid, scampi and mussels offer several ways to build a seafood lunch. The house Šanpjer platter is designed for two, bringing fish, squid, scampi and shellfish together with chard and potatoes. It is a useful order when two diners want to share a broader selection. There are also seafood pastas, fish soup and risottos, including a black risotto. Smaller starters such as marinated anchovies offer another route into the meal before a main course. To finish, the menu includes Rab cake, ice cream and pancakes with sweet fillings. Ask which fish and shellfish are available on the day before deciding on a particular plate. The local tourism board lists a season from April through October, so check directly before visiting near either end of that period. It also identifies the venue as suitable for children and welcoming to dogs. A telephone reservation is sensible for a waterfront table, especially if you are planning the meal around an old-town outing.

Example photo of the cuisine — not photographed at this venue Valeria Boltneva / Pexels

Palit 71, 51280 Palit

+38551774855

Velum in Palit offers a broad introduction to Rab's cooking, with island recipes alongside Mediterranean fish, pasta and meat dishes. Its name means sail in Latin, an appropriate starting point for a restaurant whose menu draws so much from the surrounding sea. Unlike many island addresses, Velum welcomes guests throughout the year. Seafood choices include grilled fish, shellfish prepared buzara-style and black cuttlefish risotto. Pasta takes several forms, from fuži with scampi and truffle to spaghetti with clams. For a more distinctly local order, ask about štokalj, dried octopus tentacles served with eggs. The kitchen also lists traditional dishes that require an advance arrangement, including octopus under the peka and rapska grota, beef filled with prosciutto and cheese in a dark sauce. There is enough choice for a table that does not share one appetite. Vegetarian options include mushroom and courgette pasta, four-cheese gnocchi and a vegetable plate with fried cheese. Meat dishes and smaller children's meals provide alternatives to seafood. Desserts include warm chocolate cake and cheesecake, giving the meal a different finishing note from the savoury island specialities. An outdoor seating area, parking and takeaway make Velum practical for different kinds of holiday day. Reserve directly if you want a particular traditional dish, since the dishes prepared by arrangement need more planning than a spontaneous lunch. When arriving early or late, check kitchen hours as well as the restaurant's published opening times.

Dietro L'Angolo is a family-run trattoria and pizzeria on Via Giacomo Matteotti in Dervio. Leonardo and Barbara combine the dishes of Lombardy with a broad pizza, grill and seafood menu, making it a practical local choice for couples, families or friends with different appetites. The restaurant has an indoor dining room, terrace and bar, with the wood-fired oven forming an important part of evening service. For a regional meal, start with sciatt, the crisp buckwheat fritters filled with Casera cheese, or a board of cured meats and cheeses. Pizzoccheri come with potatoes, seasonal greens, cheese, butter and sage and are ordered for at least two people. Other first courses include saffron-and-sausage risotto, beef-ragù tagliatelle and linguine with clams. The pizza selection ranges from Margherita and Napoli to the house version with sausage, Gorgonzola and onion. Vegetarian toppings, calzoni and richer combinations with porcini or speck widen the choice. Away from pizza, there are sliced grilled beef, burgers, a breaded pork cutlet and mixed fried seafood. Homemade panna cotta, tiramisù and crema catalana offer a familiar finish. A set lunch is available from Monday to Saturday, while groups of at least four can ask about the evening Giro Pizza format. Lunch is served daily, with Tuesday evening the regular closure. Reserve by phone, especially for a group, and discuss dietary requirements directly: although alternative pizza bases are offered, the restaurant explicitly notes that preparation takes place in a shared kitchen.

Supetarska Draga 321, 51280 Supetarska Draga

+385951965861

More sits by the sea in Gonar, on the western side of Rab between the Kampor and Supetarska Draga bays. The Tariba family's restaurant grew out of a close connection to fishing and has more than forty years of history. Its terrace looks towards the water and nearby islands, making the setting an important part of a leisurely seafood meal. The menu gives shellfish and crustaceans room to take several forms. Scampi can be grilled, prepared buzara-style, served with olive oil and lemon, or cooked in a white-wine sauce. Other dishes highlighted by the restaurant include gratinated scallops, cuttlefish pasta with broad beans, and prawns with corn polenta and truffle. Ask about the day's fish and the available preparations when ordering. An aquarium inside the restaurant reflects the emphasis on marine ingredients. Croatian and international wines accompany the food, while the separate beach bar below offers a more casual setting for drinks and simpler meals. For a seafood dinner, specify the restaurant when arranging a table, particularly if your preference is the upper terrace rather than the bar. More is practical for visitors arriving either by road or by boat. The family provides parking, and its jetty has berths for vessels up to twenty metres. Contact the team before arriving by sea to confirm a suitable berth and the arrangements for your visit. By road, use the Supetarska Draga 321 address and the Gonar location when planning the journey.

Il Mercante al Laghetto pairs the cooking of the upper lake and Valtellina with an unusual setting beside a small natural pond in Colico's industrial area. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor spaces, so it can work for a straightforward lunch as well as a longer dinner. Use the Via Al Confine address when planning a visit; the pond setting is separate from Colico's main Lake Como waterfront. Regional starters include sciatt, taroz, bresaola with rocket and Parmesan, and boards of cured meats or cheeses. The tasting menu is designed for the whole table and begins with a mixed house starter before a selection of first courses and dessert. It is an option for at least two people who want to explore several parts of the kitchen's repertoire together. Handmade pizzoccheri share the menu with Valchiavenna gnocchetti and a wide range of filled pasta. Ravioli can feature perch with butter and sage, whitefish with almonds and lime, or polenta with Casera cheese. Main courses include a breaded veal cutlet, roast veal, ribs with polenta taragna and whitefish in butter and sage. Grilled tomino cheese and seasonal vegetable sides provide additional choices. Children have simpler pasta and chicken dishes, while dessert options include tiramisù, panna cotta and fruit sorbets. The restaurant recommends booking at weekends. Trg kralja Tomislava 6, 21310 Omiš

Gusarska Konoba, the Pirate Tavern inside Hotel Plaža Omiš, carries the town's maritime theme into its dining room. Wood, portholes and lighting create the impression of a ship's interior at Trg kralja Tomislava, close to the centre of Omiš. The kitchen serves a broad Mediterranean and Croatian menu, with enough variety for a couple or a group to choose independently. Begin with Pag cheese, Dalmatian prosciutto or an octopus salad, or choose one of the soups. Black cuttlefish risotto, seafood spaghetti and pasta with salmon provide substantial alternatives to a conventional main course. Fish dishes include sea bass and sea bream with Dalmatian-style chard, grilled squid and fish fillet in wine sauce. The pirate idea also appears in the food: a mixed-meat sword for two and the Gusarica platter are sharing options for diners who prefer the grill. The latter combines stuffed rump steak, pork with bacon and turkey, with potatoes and vegetable rice. More familiar choices include schnitzel, steaks and a range of pizzas, from Margarita to ham and mushrooms or seafood. This combination makes the tavern useful when you want a central restaurant with an indoor setting and an extensive menu. Pancakes with different fillings and ice-cream desserts give the meal a relaxed finish. The hotel publishes service from noon until late evening; contact its Omiš team to reserve a table and confirm any particular dish before visiting.

Cocopazzo occupies Saint Michael's Square in the old part of Omiš, with a terrace beside the church. Italian and Dalmatian influences meet in a menu that covers handmade pasta, seafood, wood-fired pizza and desserts. It is a convenient choice for a meal during an old-town visit, particularly when different people at the table want quite different things. The pasta and risotto choices go beyond familiar holiday staples. Fuži is paired with pistachio cream and stracciatella, while one risotto combines beetroot, blue cheese and walnuts. Seafood diners can choose tuna with celery sauce, sea bass with broccoli and spinach sauce, or octopus with baked polenta. A chef's fish platter for two combines several kinds of fish and shellfish. Pizza is made from hand-stretched dough and cooked in a wood-burning oven. Choices include a simple Margarita, vegetables, four cheeses and mortadella with pistachio pesto. The menu also identifies vegan beetroot gnocchi with avocado and lemon, alongside a vegetable pasta option. Children have smaller carbonara or chicken nuggets with chips. Homemade cakes and pastries form a separate reason to leave room at the end; Cocopazzo works with I Gemelli Patisserie and also serves Croatian wines and cocktails. For a celebration or a larger table, call ahead and explain the occasion. The restaurant operates seasonally, with the local tourism board listing May through October, so confirm opening times before planning a visit near the beginning or end of the season.

Restaurant Knez is the restaurant of Hotel Villa Dvor on Mosorska cesta in Omiš. Its elevated terrace looks across the Cetina canyon, the old town and the sea towards Brač. Chef and hotel owner Petar Ćurlin gives the cooking a connection to the nearby Poljica area, using traditional recipes and produce grown for the kitchen. The menu begins with Dalmatian prosciutto, local cheeses, anchovies and beef carpaccio. Seafood appears in the house risotto of shellfish, prawns and fish, as well as black cuttlefish risotto. More distinctive pasta choices include wild-herb pesto with hazelnuts and black ravioli filled with prawns and fresh cheese in a prosciutto-and-truffle sauce. For the main course, sea bass with olive tapenade sits alongside fish baked with vegetables and tomato sauce. Ask about the day's catch if you prefer a simpler grilled preparation. Meat choices include aged Black Angus steak, lamb and game with gnocchi, while a soy steak with potato-and-garlic cream provides a vegetarian alternative. Desserts include the day's homemade cake and pancakes with ice cream and warm cherries. The Ćurlin family's own wine is offered alongside other Dalmatian bottles, making the restaurant's regional ties part of the drinks selection too. Book directly if the terrace view is a priority. Kaštil Slanica sits beside the Cetina River in a former salt-trading fort, a setting that connects the meal to the history of the Omiš hinterland. The Rogošić family opened the restaurant in 1998, drawing on family recipes and the ingredients of the coast, river and inland countryside. Its wine selection focuses on Dalmatian grape varieties. Soparnik is a particularly relevant place to begin: the thin Poljica pie contains chard and onion and is finished with olive oil and garlic. Homemade bread baked beneath hot coals accompanies several starters, including the house bruschetta and fish pâté. Grandma Višnja's pašticada, served with homemade gnocchi, continues the family-recipe theme. The river section of the menu offers trout, eel and frog legs, while the seafood dishes include black risotto, prawns with monkfish and fish baked with vegetables. There are also straightforward choices for younger diners, such as tomato pasta and breaded chicken. For a shared peka meal, choose among veal, lamb, octopus or chicken and order at least three hours ahead; the minimum is four portions. You can arrive by road, with free guest parking, or discuss a river arrival with the team. This makes Kaštil Slanica a useful destination for an outing into the canyon as well as a restaurant visit. Reserve directly and mention any advance-order dish when arranging the table. Rožata or cheesecake with caramelised figs can bring the meal to a distinctly Dalmatian finish.

Radmanove Mlinice is a restaurant and excursion estate in the Cetina canyon, around six kilometres from Omiš. Former watermills, tall trees and the river give it a different setting from the coastal restaurants in town. The grounds retain reminders of the old mill estate, including stone mill equipment and a sundial, and can be reached by road or by boat. The cooking makes room for both the river and Dalmatian traditions. Grilled trout with chard and potatoes, frog legs with prosciutto and pašticada with homemade gnocchi are among the house specialities. Soparnik and bread baked beneath a covered bell offer another introduction to local food, while black cuttlefish risotto and grilled sea fish bring the coast into the menu. There is also a substantial grill selection, from ćevapi and chicken to stuffed steaks and mixed platters for two. Tomato pasta and vegetable risotto provide simpler alternatives, and pancakes or the cake of the day round out the meal. Some larger preparations need planning: the restaurant asks for advance notice for dishes such as spit-roasted lamb and eel stew, so discuss these when reserving. Indoor tables and an outdoor terrace make the restaurant suitable for different weather, while a children's playground and sports areas give families something to do around the meal. Combine lunch with time in the canyon, or ask the team about a group visit. Telephone confirmation is useful for both the day's menu and current opening hours, which can vary across the season.

Šetalište Vladimira Nazora 77, 51260 Crikvenica

Dida is a coastal restaurant in Crikvenica with a garden terrace facing the island of Krk. Inside, an open kitchen, a large fireplace and broad windows connect the dining room with the outdoor space. Chef Damnjan Draganić's cooking brings a contemporary approach to regional ingredients, making this an option for a meal that deserves time in the day's plans. Kvarner scampi appears in several distinctive preparations. The cream soup includes cuttlefish profiteroles and herb oil, while Roman-style gnocchi is paired with scampi and black truffle. Homemade pasta is another central feature: the Dida interpretation of carbonara combines tagliatelle, Drniš prosciutto, rocket and Istrian truffle. Black cavatelli with cuttlefish ragù offers a different seafood pasta course. Main dishes range from sea-bass fillet with broad beans and lemon-almond sauce to tuna with polenta and fennel. Brudet, a fish stew with scampi and polenta, is designed for two. Beef tenderloin and veal provide alternatives, while the fish selection changes with availability. Diners can also choose a five- or eight-course tasting menu and discuss wine pairing with the team. Croatian and international wines accompany the menu, and the restaurant gives particular attention to matching olive oils with the food. Reserve directly and explain any dietary needs when arranging the meal. For visitors staying inland around Donji Zagon, this is a coastal outing to Crikvenica; plan transport accordingly and confirm the current kitchen hours before travelling.

Admiral is the restaurant at Marina Novi, with a covered terrace looking towards Krk on one side and Novi Vinodolski's old town on the other. The kitchen draws on the Croatian coast while offering enough variety for guests arriving from a day on the water or meeting for dinner in town. Indoor tables provide an alternative when the terrace is less appealing. Seafood choices include black cuttlefish risotto, scampi risotto, prawns with pljukanci pasta and grilled squid with chard. A whole grilled sea bass is offered for two, while wild fish depends on availability. Tuna steak comes with ratatouille vegetables, and crispy octopus is paired with mashed potato and spicy mayonnaise. These are useful starting points for a meal built around the sea. The menu extends to beef tartare, steaks, burgers and several pizzas. Vegetarian choices include four-cheese gnocchi, while a vegan bowl combines seasonal vegetables, couscous, smoked tofu and a tahini-orange dressing. For dessert, consider pancakes, the daily cake or a sweet selection for two. Guests who need gluten-free pasta or bread should ask the team before ordering. The wine selection includes Pavlomir, a producer closely connected with the nearby Vinodol vineyards. Admiral also accommodates celebrations and organised groups, with seating both inside and under cover outside. Contact the marina restaurant directly to reserve a table and discuss any group meal. Confirm kitchen times if planning an early arrival or a late dinner.

Antika in Novi Vinodolski brings Croatian, Italian and Mediterranean cooking together in a restaurant with both outdoor seating and an air-conditioned interior. The broad choice of meal times makes it useful for visitors whose day does not fit neatly around an early lunch or a fixed dinner reservation. Breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner are all part of its offer. Fish and cheese are among the foods highlighted by the kitchen, while pancakes and other desserts provide a sweet finish or a shorter stop between meals. Ask about the day's preparations when you arrive, especially if you want a particular fish dish. The restaurant also offers vegetarian and vegan choices, giving mixed groups a reason to consider it when not everyone wants the same style of meal. For guests with dietary requirements, Antika advertises gluten-free and lactose-free options. Discuss the specific requirement with the team before ordering so they can explain suitable dishes and preparation. Step-free access, a welcome for pets and takeaway are further practical details. Card payment and online table reservations are available. The restaurant is listed by the municipality among Novi Vinodolski's dining addresses. Find it on Ulica Ladislava Maričića, at number 1, and use +385 51 777 929 for a direct enquiry. This is also a useful contact for a family occasion or a larger table, when agreeing the timing and food in advance makes the visit easier.

Korzo hrvatskih branitelja 33, 51250 Novi Vinodolski

Nava has been part of Novi Vinodolski's restaurant scene since 2009. Pizza remains at the centre of its identity, but the menu also covers seafood, pasta, grilled meat and cakes. With a large dining capacity and experience hosting celebrations, it suits both an ordinary holiday meal and a gathering that needs some advance organisation. The pizza list moves from Margherita and mushroom toppings to combinations with Croatian cured meats, seafood and vegetables. The house Nava pizza combines mushrooms, prosciutto, mozzarella and cherry tomatoes. A Marinara keeps to tomato, garlic and oregano, while the Novljanska adds prawns, rocket, cherry tomatoes and garlic. This variety makes it easy to choose between a familiar pizza and one with a coastal accent. Guests who prefer another dish can consider fuži in truffle sauce, seafood risotto, monkfish in white wine or a fish platter for two. A vegan vegetable plate and mushroom risotto sit alongside vegetarian pasta choices. The children's section includes tomato spaghetti, breaded chicken, turkey and a grilled meat patty. Cakes change with the daily selection, and the restaurant's pastry team also prepares cakes to order. Nava offers delivery and a separate catering service, useful when a group wants to eat at its accommodation or arrange a celebration elsewhere. Telephone to discuss the delivery area or a larger booking. Winter opening times differ from the summer schedule, particularly on Tuesdays and Sundays, so check the day's service before setting out.

Konoba Studec on Vinska cesta offers a different side of Novi Vinodolski's cooking from the waterfront seafood restaurants. The menu gives space to Vinodol specialities, grilled meat and dishes cooked under the peka, alongside fish and pasta. It is a useful destination for a meal that introduces the flavours of the nearby hinterland. Start with local-style soup or one of the cold platters, then consider the Bribir makaruni, traditional pasta also offered with truffle sauce. Vinodol minestrone comes with sausage or dried meat, while venison stew provides another hearty option. The grill includes beef, turkey and pork, with distinctive combinations such as pork tenderloin filled with pancetta, cheese and dried figs. Some of Studec's most substantial dishes need planning. Octopus under the peka, spit-roasted lamb and pork, and meat baked with potatoes are listed for advance orders; the meat peka choices carry a minimum of four people. For a spontaneous visit, the regular menu also includes grilled sea bass, bream, squid and a fish platter for two. Vegetarian diners can choose a plate of vegetables with egg and fried cheese, while children have smaller meat dishes or cheese gnocchi. A heated terrace, parking and a children's corner make the restaurant convenient for a family outing. Dogs are welcome, and reservations can be made online or by telephone. When booking a peka meal, agree the dish, number of diners and preparation time directly with the restaurant.

Carrer de la Font 6, 43595 Prat de Comte

+34615304347

Ca l'Àngels is a small hostal and restaurant on Carrer de la Font in Prat de Comte, a village close to Els Ports. The restaurant's focus is traditional Catalan cooking with vegetables from its own garden. It suits a visit built around the inland villages and mountain countryside, with substantial, familiar dishes at the centre of the experience. The house describes a repertoire of slow-cooked meals: escudella, other stews, meat with potatoes and cod with potatoes. Its local restaurant profile also highlights rabbit and chicken cooked in a casserole, grilled meats, baked cod and fricandó. Together they give a clear picture of the kitchen's style, with the emphasis on home cooking rather than an elaborate tasting format. Ask which preparations are available on the day. The dining room accommodates around seventy people, and the restaurant accepts arrangements for celebrations and meals prepared to order. A daily menu and a wider choice of dishes are advertised locally, along with breakfast, lunch and dinner service. This makes it useful to discuss the occasion when booking: a straightforward stop during an outing needs different arrangements from a family gathering with a fixed menu. The address places you in Prat de Comte, rather than in the centre of Horta de Sant Joan, so allow for the journey through the surrounding countryside. Contact the hostal directly to confirm restaurant hours and your table. For guests looking for a regional meal, the garden produce, casserole dishes and village setting are the main reasons to make the trip.

Auberge de Pont-de-Nant sits at 1,253 metres at the entrance to the Vallon de Nant, beneath the Grand Muveran. The mountain setting is central to a visit: the inn is a stop on the Tour des Muverans, and the La Thomasia alpine botanical garden is around 100 metres away. Jordi, Maddy-Ann and Marco lead the current team. The kitchen follows the seasons. Its autumn menu includes venison with homemade spätzli, wild-boar parmentier and trout from Vionnaz that is marinated and smoked in-house. A mushroom small-spelt risotto provides a vegetable-focused alternative, while cheese fondue comes with several possible variations. Children have a smaller chalet macaroni dish. These are seasonal examples, so consult the current card before a special journey. Desserts continue the regional and autumn themes, with roasted figs, a raisinée cheesecake and a chocolate dessert with chestnut mousse. A shared hunter's caquelon is offered for at least two people. Reserve a table in advance, since the inn specifically warns that availability is limited during its autumn service. Access needs planning in winter. In summer the road reaches the inn and public parking is available. From roughly November to April, the last two kilometres close to vehicles; guests continue from Les Plans-sur-Bex on foot or with appropriate winter equipment, depending on conditions. Check the current route and opening dates directly, including the scheduled November closure. This is a destination meal in the mountains rather than a town-centre restaurant.

Can Joan stands beside the T-334 at one of the entrances to Horta de Sant Joan, with views towards the Els Ports mountains. This small family restaurant concentrates on home-style cooking and gives visitors several ways to stop: a substantial breakfast, a daily menu, a sandwich or a more leisurely meal with wine from Terra Alta. The advertised selection includes slowly cooked spoon dishes, meat dishes, salads, toast and combination plates. The range is useful when a group arrives with different appetites after exploring the village or countryside. Those interested in the traditional side of the menu should ask about the day's stews and the esmorzar de forquilla, the hearty, knife-and-fork breakfast that the restaurant specifically offers. Can Joan also has a connection to Horta's culinary history. The university-backed Cuina dels Genis project recorded a local recapte recipe associated with its kitchen, combining beans, chickpeas, vegetables and pork products. That historical recipe illustrates the resourceful cooking of the area; the current daily menu is the best guide to what will actually arrive at your table. Inside, the restaurant has space for forty-eight diners, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. The team also welcomes enquiries about group meals, meetings and celebrations. Contact them in advance for opening times, table availability and any dietary requirements, particularly if you are organising a meal around an excursion. A glass from the D.O. Avinguda de la Generalitat 19–21, 43596 Horta de Sant Joan

Restaurant Miralles brings the farming traditions of Horta de Sant Joan into a family hotel on Avinguda de la Generalitat. Its cooking centres on patient preparation and ingredients from the surrounding countryside: garden vegetables, local olive oil, artisan bread, naturally grazed lamb and wines from the family's vineyards. It is a particularly interesting stop for visitors who want a meal connected to the agricultural landscape of Terra Alta. The house speciality is crestó en escabeche, a slowly prepared goat dish with a story of its own. Salvador Miralles helped preserve the local white-goat tradition after the herds of Els Ports declined. The restaurant explains that the animals' mountain grazing and careful husbandry are central to the dish. Ask about its availability when reserving, especially if trying this regional speciality is the reason for your visit. There are different spaces for different occasions. The Nurianna dining room has stone arches, timber beams, a fireplace and a wood-fired oven; a smaller private room accommodates celebrations. A separate, larger dining room has mountain views and space for groups. Weekday and weekend menus are offered, alongside arrangements for organised meals and family occasions. The Miralles family's hospitality grew from a modest local inn into the present hotel and restaurant. For a day exploring Horta or the nearby mountain country, reserve a table directly and discuss the current menu and any dietary requirements. The slow-cooked local speciality and the family's own produce give the meal its distinctive character.

La Colonne is an Italian restaurant and pizzeria on Route de l'Allex in Bex. Mia and Orhan reopened this established family address in August 2025, bringing a new team to a house whose restaurant history stretches back to 1972. The dining room, bright veranda and terrace offer different settings for the same homemade Italian cooking. Pizza is a central part of the menu. The dough is made in-house and given a slow rise, with fresh toppings and careful baking. Beyond pizza, the kitchen prepares homemade tagliatelle, potato gnocchi and ravioli filled with ricotta. These dishes make it possible to choose a full pasta meal even when other people at the table have come specifically for pizza. The menu follows the seasons and market produce. One of the restaurant's own examples is wild-boar meatballs in tomato sauce during the game season. A changing lunchtime menu provides another option alongside the regular selection. Ask what is available that day rather than expecting seasonal dishes to remain on the card throughout the year. The terrace has a wood-burning stove, while the bar provides a place for an Italian coffee or an aperitif. La Colonne can also be booked for private occasions. It opens later on Mondays than on the rest of its working week and closes on Sundays. Telephone for a table, current food-service times or arrangements for a family celebration, and mention any dietary requirements when booking.

Grotto 04 is a family restaurant, pizzeria and wine bar in the centre of Bex. Its menu combines Mediterranean and Italian cooking with several Kosovar specialities. The restaurant has operated since 2001 and gives local ingredients a specific role: pizza flour is produced with a Vaud farmer, vegetables come from the market and the meat is Swiss. Pizzas range from a simple Margherita to combinations using vegetables, seafood or Kosovar beef sausage. The menu also offers linguine, risotto, hand-cut beef tartare, perch fillets and burgers. Kosovar-style chicken and a wine-based meat fondue are dishes to arrange in advance for at least two people. Risotto is cooked to order, so allow a little extra time if that is your choice. There are separate options for younger guests, including pasta, small pizzas and meat dishes. Gluten-free pasta can be requested, but allergies should still be discussed with the staff before ordering. The venue is on one level and has an outdoor terrace for summer meals, making it practical for different kinds of groups. The wine bar is another distinctive part of Grotto 04, with more than 300 references and a strong emphasis on Swiss wines. Bottles can be enjoyed here or bought to take away. A small private dining room overlooking the kitchen is available by arrangement. The restaurant closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; reserve directly for a special dish, a group meal or a busy evening.

The Hôtel de Ville on Rue Centrale is a restaurant in the centre of Bex; despite its name, it does not offer hotel rooms. Its cooking draws on Italian and Swiss traditions, with a shaded terrace behind the dining room and additional rooms for private occasions. It works for a meal in town when your group wants a wider choice than pizza alone. The Italian side of the menu includes homemade lasagne, aubergine parmigiana, spaghetti with clams and morel risotto. Swiss dishes include Bernese rösti with bacon and egg, Tomme Vaudoise with seasonal salad and cheese fondue from Moléson. This combination allows diners to choose between pasta and local cheese-based dishes at the same table. Fish and meat broaden the selection further, from perch fillets and sea bream to beef tartare, duck breast and a house burger. A wine-based meat fondue is available by reservation for at least two people. For dessert, the restaurant lists Italian favourites such as tiramisu and Sicilian ricotta cannoli, alongside crème brûlée and chocolate cake. The kitchen prepares dishes to order and offers smaller discovery portions for children under twelve. A changing dish of the day is served from Tuesday to Friday. Ordinary service runs Tuesday to Saturday, with separate daytime and evening kitchen sessions. Sunday and Monday openings can be arranged for groups of at least fifteen. Route de Sodoleuvre 6, 1882 Gryon

+41244984006

L'Étable is a mountain restaurant in the Les Chaux area above Gryon, near Taveyannes. Its name reflects the building's original use: a former stable has been converted into a dining room for regional Swiss cooking. A broad wooden terrace looks across the surrounding mountain pastures, providing an outdoor option during suitable weather. The food follows that alpine setting. Specialities highlighted by the restaurant and regional tourism office include mushroom cassolette with rösti, roast pork knuckle with honey and half-and-half cheese fondue. Vegetable dishes and a children's selection broaden the choice. The menu changes with the season, so check which preparations are being served when you reserve. Animals are a distinctive part of a visit here. The small educational farm is reserved for restaurant guests and includes donkeys, goats, rabbits and chickens. The tourism office also describes animals in their own space behind glass beside the restaurant. For families, this gives the meal an additional point of interest without turning it into a separate outing to a distant attraction. In summer, the restaurant can be reached via the Route des Chaux from Gryon or as part of a walk from Taveyannes. It also welcomes winter visitors, with a separate terrace hut offering lighter refreshments. Opening times depend on the season and conditions; check access and food-service hours before setting out. Make a direct reservation for your table, particularly if you are organising a group or fitting lunch around a mountain walk.

L'Hort is the restaurant of Hort de Fortunyo, a stone farmhouse hotel outside Arnes, among olive trees near Els Ports. Paula C. Loureiro and Manuel Francés bring experience from different countries and kitchens to a menu rooted in Terra Alta. Local produce and vegetables from the property's garden provide the foundation, while the recipes also make room for flavours learned further afield. The published menu shows how that approach works. A vegetable quiche sits alongside wild-croaker ceviche with sweet potato, fried squid with lime allioli and tuna with passion fruit. The meat section gives particular attention to lamb from Els Ports, while pork ribs are glazed with honey from Arnes. These are examples of the kitchen's repertoire; the season and available produce determine what is offered when you visit. Rice dishes and a substantial wine selection create several ways to build a meal. The listed rice preparations include rabbit with green beans, seafood rossejat and cuttlefish rice with cauliflower. A seasonal menu and a longer L'Hort menu are also advertised. Anyone with allergies or dietary requirements should discuss them when booking, particularly when choosing a set menu. The farmhouse setting and terrace make this a meal to plan into a day around Arnes or Horta de Sant Joan. Reserve directly through the restaurant's booking link and confirm the service you need. Its appeal lies in the combination of a rural setting, a productive garden and regional ingredients handled with an outward-looking approach.

Avenida Cataluña, 57, 44610 Calaceite

Fonda Alcalá is a family restaurant in Calaceite whose cooking connects the Matarraña countryside with more than a century of hospitality. Founded in 1922 and now in its fourth generation, the house combines inherited recipes with newer preparations. It is a place for a deliberate meal, with the region's beans, olive-growing landscape and slow-cooked dishes providing a strong sense of location. The traditional side includes white beans from Beceite, served with a choice such as cured sardine, house-cured pork belly or local longaniza. Ternasco lamb from Aragon is cooked slowly, while the menu preserves family meatball and partridge recipes. Alongside these are prawn tartare with grilled bone marrow and ravioli filled with duck and foie from Teruel. The range makes the relationship between old and new easy to explore at the table. Fish choices include grilled wild cod and a market-dependent fish of the day. The kitchen also offers vegetarian preparations that can be adapted for vegan diners, seasonal suggestions and a nine-course tasting menu called Cuarta Generación. That tasting format requires an advance reservation and can be accompanied by a wine pairing; the cellar includes wines and cavas from the surrounding region. Desserts are made in house, with an apple pudding from the family repertoire and an almond dessert among the choices. Book directly for your preferred format and mention any dietary requirements in advance. Customer parking is provided opposite the restaurant. Do-Do Café stands on the Šetalište Pet Danica in Herceg Novi. That address is the whole point of the place, so it is worth explaining: the Šetalište Pet Danica is the seafront promenade, a paved walk that runs for several kilometres along the water at the mouth of the Bay of Kotor, with the sea on one side and the town climbing the hill on the other. Almost everything in Herceg Novi that faces the water faces it from here. The hours describe a café rather than a restaurant, and a long day: seven in the morning until one the following night, every day of the week without exception. Eighteen hours is the working pattern of a promenade café on this coast — the first coffee before work, the afternoon in the shade, and the evening walk that half the town takes when the heat goes. We hold no website for it, so nothing is written here about what it serves. The telephone is the way to ask. Herceg Novi sits at the entrance to the Boka Kotorska, about half an hour by car from Morinj along the E65 and rather less from the Croatian border. It is the sunniest town on the Montenegrin coast and the one with the most stairs: the old quarter climbs steeply from the water, so the promenade is where people actually walk, and a café on it is on the route rather than off it. You will find Do-Do Café at Šetalište Pet Danica 36, 85340 Herceg Novi.
