L’Envie Gourmande

L'Envie Gourmande is a village restaurant and bar on Place des Marronniers in Salles-Lavalette. Stéphane and Carine run a place with a simple, homemade approach to food and an active role in village life. The cooking draws on local products, with French, Italian and Mediterranean influences and vegetarian choices among the restaurant's stated specialities.

The setting changes with the season. A fireplace gives the dining room a focal point in colder weather, while the terrace looks out towards the Charente countryside. There are two dining rooms and a total of around 60 indoor covers, together with approximately 30 terrace places. It is a useful address for a meal in the village rather than a roadside stop.

Food and social events add variety to the usual menu. The village calendar includes regional food evenings, music gatherings and activities at the bar. Past and announced themes include dishes from Alsace and Auvergne, so check the programme when you are staying nearby. These events have their own dates and should be booked directly where required.

Families have practical facilities including a highchair, changing table, play area, board games and table football. Free private parking is available, dogs are welcome and takeaway service is offered. Opening hours change between the main summer period and the rest of the year. Call before travelling for dinner, or to ask what is cooking and whether a music or themed evening is scheduled during your stay.
