South of Split, the Makarska Riviera lines pebble beaches beneath the dramatic Biokovo massif. Just as importantly, this coast is the launch pad for island-hopping — ferries and catamarans fan out to Hvar, Brač, Korčula and remote Vis, while inland the waterfalls of Krka and the bare archipelago of Kornati draw day-trippers. Add Mediterranean food, local wines and centuries of Venetian and Roman heritage, and you have a region that rewards both slow stays and busy itineraries. Which airports serve the Dalmatian Coast?
The main gateways are Split, Zadar and Dubrovnik airports, with Split the most central for the region's core. Trogir sits just a few kilometres from Split's airport. From these hubs, buses, hire cars and ferries connect the coastal cities and islands, so most trips begin at one of these three points.
