Restaurant Stürhus

Stürhus is a maritime restaurant on Bensersiel's Hauptstraße, a short coastal outing from Dornum. Its rooms are described as the decks of a ship: the main deck contains the bar, salad counter and tables for two to four, while the upper deck offers harbour views and more space for groups. On clear days the view from upstairs can reach Langeoog. A terrace provides an outdoor option in suitable weather.

Fish has a prominent place in the kitchen's traditional cooking. The current fish menu includes pan-fried pike-perch with creamy leek vegetables, redfish wrapped in bacon with green beans, and pollock with remoulade. Hamburger Pannfisch combines pollock, gherkin, Dijon mustard sauce and fried potatoes in a pan. Salmon appears in several preparations, including a herb-and-cheese crust with a light curry sauce.

Several of these fish dishes can be ordered as a smaller portion, a useful detail if you prefer a lighter meal. The wider menu also has sections for vegetarian dishes, meat, rump steaks, children's meals and platters for two.
