Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 6.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Popular places to stay in Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is a forty-kilometre stretch of southern Italy's Campania region where the mountains fall almost vertically into the Tyrrhenian Sea, and villages cling to the rock in tiers of pastel houses, terraced gardens and lemon groves. UNESCO recognised the whole coast as a World Heritage landscape in 1997, and it is easy to see why: Positano tumbles down its ravine to a beach of moored boats, Amalfi gathers around a striped medieval cathedral at the water's edge, and Ravello sits high above it all, its clifftop villa gardens looking out over an impossible drop to the sea. The single coastal road, the SS163, threads this scenery in a series of tight bends, while ferries link the main towns in season and offer the finest views of the cliffs from the water. This is lemon country, the source of the local limoncello, alongside handmade ceramics and centuries-old paper mills. Sorrento, just around the peninsula, makes a popular gateway. The coast is at its best in spring and autumn, when the light is soft, the bougainvillea is out and the summer crowds have thinned, leaving the terraces, footpaths and swimming coves to those who linger.

Vacation rentals in Amalfi Coast: FAQ

Book vacation apartments and holiday homes safely with BookNoFees ↗
How do I get to the Amalfi Coast?

Naples International Airport is the usual gateway, with onward connections by train to the Sorrento area and then bus or ferry along the coast. The single coastal road, the SS163, links the towns by car and bus, though it is narrow and winding. In the warmer months, seasonal ferries connect Positano, Amalfi and neighbouring ports, often the most relaxing way to travel.

When is the best time to visit the Amalfi Coast?

Spring and autumn are ideal. From roughly April to June and again in September and October the weather is warm, the gardens and bougainvillea are in bloom, and the towns are far less crowded than in peak summer. July and August bring the heaviest crowds and traffic on the coastal road. Winter is quiet, with many seasonal businesses and ferries closed.

How do I get around between the towns?

Three main options: the SS163 coastal road served by local buses, seasonal passenger ferries between the main ports, and driving yourself, though parking is scarce and the road is demanding. Many visitors prefer ferries and buses over a car for the busy stretch between Positano and Amalfi. Between clifftop villages, footpaths and stairways also connect towns for those on foot.

Which town should I use as a base?

Positano is the postcard favourite but steep and pricey; Amalfi is central and well connected by ferry and bus; Ravello, high above the coast, offers gardens, quiet and views; and Sorrento, just around the peninsula, makes an easier-reached gateway with more transport links. Smaller towns like Praiano, Minori and Maiori tend to be calmer and better value while still close to the highlights.

What should I see and do?

Visit Amalfi's cathedral and cloister, tour the clifftop gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, wander Positano's stepped lanes down to the beach, and taste limoncello made from the coast's famous lemons. Walkers can follow the celebrated Path of the Gods high above the sea, and the ceramics of Vietri sul Mare make a classic local souvenir.
