Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 6.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. Sources: Airbnb Help Center and Booking.com General Delivery Terms.

One country. Many favorite places.

Popular places to stay in Colombia

Colombia packs a remarkable amount of variety into one country, which is why so many first trips string together a few contrasting stops. Cartagena is the postcard opener, a walled colonial old town of balconies and bougainvillea on the Caribbean coast, with beaches and the Rosario Islands a short boat ride away. Medellin, set in a valley of eternal spring, has reinvented itself around cable cars, public escalators and a lively cafe and nightlife scene. Bogota, the high-altitude capital, offers the historic La Candelaria district, the Gold Museum and the Botero collection, plus a cool mountain climate that surprises visitors expecting tropical heat. In the coffee region, or Eje Cafetero, days slow down among towering wax palms in the Cocora Valley, working fincas and painted towns like Salento and Filandia. Up on the Caribbean, Tayrona National Park pairs jungle-backed beaches with walking trails, a wilder counterpoint to Cartagena's polish. Distances and altitude changes are real, so many travellers move between regions by short domestic flight. A holiday rental fits this kind of multi-stop journey, giving you a base in each city and the space to settle in between adventures.

Vacation rentals in Colombia: FAQ

Book vacation apartments and holiday homes safely with BookNoFees ↗
What is a good first-time route through Colombia?

A popular first itinerary combines Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena and the coffee region, which together give you the capital's museums, Medellin's transformed city life, the Caribbean colonial coast and the green highlands. It is a lot of ground, so many travellers connect the regions by short domestic flights and give each place a few nights rather than rushing.

When is the best time to visit Colombia?

Colombia sits near the equator, so temperatures depend more on altitude than on season, and you can travel year-round. December to March and July to August are generally drier and busier. The coffee region and the Caribbean coast stay warm, while Bogota is cool all year because of its elevation, so pack layers if your trip mixes the coast and the highlands.

Is the coffee region worth a stop?

For many travellers it is a highlight. The Eje Cafetero offers working coffee farms you can tour, the tall wax palms of the Cocora Valley and colourful towns such as Salento and Filandia. It is a slower, greener contrast to the cities, and a rental or finca stay lets you soak up the pace over a few unhurried days.

What should I know before visiting Tayrona National Park?

Tayrona combines jungle trails with Caribbean beaches, and reaching the best-known coves usually involves walking from the park entrances. The park sometimes closes for periods each year for ecological rest, and conditions can be hot and humid, so check current opening information and bring water and sun protection. Many visitors base themselves near Santa Marta and make a day or overnight trip.

How does booking direct on BookNoFees work?

You can message the host before booking. For a booking request, Stripe first places a card hold for the full amount; the host has 48 hours to accept, and only then is the amount captured. Instant Book is charged immediately after Stripe confirms payment. Do not transfer the booking amount directly to the host. The displayed total already includes the 6.9% guest fee on the host price, covering payment processing, refund handling and payment risks.

Why choose a rental over a hotel in Colombia?

Because a typical Colombia trip hops between several regions, a rental gives you a proper base in each one, with a kitchen and room to relax after full days of exploring.
