Rates checked in September 2026. Under its single-fee structure, Airbnb charges most hosts 15.5%; Airbnb says other hosts typically pay between 14% and 16%. Exceptions depend on country and account type. Booking.com sets the commission rate in each accommodation agreement, and visibility programmes may increase it. This worked example uses a possible range of 15% to 25%. If Booking.com facilitates payment, the applicable payment terms and transaction cost are contract-specific. Our 3.9% cost contribution is included in the displayed total and contributes towards Stripe payment fees and refunds. BookNoFees earns nothing from it. Nothing is added at checkout and nothing is deducted from the owner. Fee models can change, so please check each platform’s current terms. About Koh Phangan
Staying in Koh Phangan
Koh Phangan sits in the Gulf of Thailand between its sister islands Koh Samui and Koh Tao, an island of two very different moods. To many travellers it is famous for one thing: the Full Moon Party at Haad Rin, where thousands gather each month on a curve of sand for an all-night beach party of fire shows, buckets and neon paint. But that's only one beach. Head north and the island slows right down — Chaloklum is a working fishing village, and the roadless coves of Bottle Beach and Thong Nai Pan are reached by longtail boat or steep jungle track. In between, a whole wellness scene has grown up around Sri Thanu and the west coast, with yoga schools, detox retreats and sunset viewpoints. The interior is mountainous jungle with waterfalls and national-park trails, while the coast is ringed with beaches ranging from lively to blissfully empty. Thong Sala is the main town and ferry port, where you'll find markets, banks and the pier. Getting here means a boat: regular ferries and speedboats connect Koh Phangan to Koh Samui, Koh Tao and the Surat Thani mainland. Rent a bungalow, hire a motorbike, and pick your pace.
Good to know
Vacation rentals in Koh Phangan — FAQ
When is the Full Moon Party?
It's held roughly once a month around the full moon at Haad Rin, with dates occasionally shifted for Thai holidays. Check the current schedule before booking if you either want to attend or want to avoid it, since accommodation across the island fills up and prices rise in the days around each party.
How do I get to Koh Phangan?
There's no airport on the island, so you arrive by boat. Regular ferries and speedboats run from Koh Samui (the nearest airport), Koh Tao and the Surat Thani mainland. Many travellers fly into Samui or Surat Thani and connect by combined bus-and-ferry or catamaran to Thong Sala pier.
Is Koh Phangan only about partying?
Not at all. Beyond Haad Rin, the north and west are quiet — Chaloklum, Bottle Beach and Thong Nai Pan are calm, and Sri Thanu is a hub for yoga and wellness retreats. Many visitors never go near the Full Moon Party and come purely for the beaches, jungle and slower pace.
How do I get around the island?
Motorbike is the most common way to explore, but Koh Phangan's roads are steep and some routes to remote beaches are rough, so ride carefully and only if experienced. Songthaew shared taxis run between main areas, and some northern coves like Bottle Beach are easiest to reach by longtail boat.
How does booking direct on BookNoFees work?
You can message the host before booking. For a booking request, Stripe first places a card hold for the full amount; the host has 48 hours to accept, and only then is the amount captured. Instant Book is charged immediately after Stripe confirms payment. Do not transfer the booking amount directly to the host. The displayed total already includes the 3.9% cost contribution for Stripe payment fees and refunds.
Why book my Koh Phangan stay through BookNoFees?
BookNoFees deducts no commission from the amount set by the host. The displayed total includes a 3.9% cost contribution for Stripe payment fees and refunds, and BookNoFees earns nothing from it. Nothing is added at checkout.
