Puerto Rico is a US territory, so it uses the US dollar and travellers arriving from the mainland US do not need a passport (a compliant ID for the flight is enough). Visitors from other countries should check the standard US entry requirements.
When is the best time to visit?
December through May is generally drier and pleasant. The Atlantic hurricane season runs roughly June to November, with the highest risk from around August to October. Off-season can mean lower prices but a greater chance of storms, so plan and watch forecasts accordingly.
How do I reach Vieques and Culebra?
Both islands are reached by ferry, typically from Ceiba/Fajardo on the east coast, or by a short flight from San Juan. Vieques is known for the bioluminescent Mosquito Bay, while Culebra is famous for Flamenco Beach; book ferries or flights ahead in busy periods.
